A seven-member jury will today, Wednesday April 22 be established by an Accra High court to determine the fate of popular broadcaster Kwasi Kyei Darkwa (KKD), who is standing trial for rape.

KKD has been standing trial since last year for allegedly raping a 19-year old girl, Ewuraffe Orleans Thompson at a hotel in Accra.

He has denied the charge of rape, and maintained that his sexual encounter with the teenager was with her consent.

A State Attorney, Ms Malike Woanyo, had told the court that the state had sufficient evidence to commit the suspect to trial at the High Court and that the state prosecution had already served a bill of indictment on the accused person.

She, therefore, prayed the court for more time to constitute the jury in order for the trial to begin.

But her request incensed lawyer for KKD, Tony Forson, who said the state prosecutor failed to inform him about the decision, especially when he had prepared to court hoping proceedings will begin.

Meanwhile, his lawyers have secured a court order directing the Nyaho Clinic in Accra to produce, within 14-days, the report of a medical examination conducted on the alleged victim after the incident.
