Dancehall songstress reveals why she didn’t respond to Shatta Wale’s diss

Dancehall songstress Grace Kaki Awo Ocansey popularly known as Kaakie has revealed why she refused to reply Shatta Wale’s diss song directed at her three years ago.

Shatta Wale, after losing out the 2013 VGMA “Reggae/Dancehall Song of The Year" award to Kaakie, rained insults on the organisers of the award scheme and later released several diss songs directed at her (Kaakie). But Kaakie refused to respond to Shatta’s diss.

Responding to why she took that decision, the 25-year-old singer said he 'Shatta Wale is older than her and acted in accordance with society’s moral standards'.

The “Sankwas” hitmaker told Pulse TV that “Every industry has its risks and its challenges. From the time I came till that time (Shatta Wale’s comeback days), it was one of the challenges I was facing. I didn’t reply because he is older than me and in Ghana, our society frowns on women who abuse men verbally."

She added “I had to stay cool and calmed, and it paid off. I had people fighting on my behalf and he later apologised so I would still not have responded.”
