In an Instagram post, the actor who has been heavily criticised by Ghanaians on social media said he had apologised to the degree holding bread seller on phone.

“I just had an extremely gracious phone conversation with Kweku Vito aka Godfred the hawker and apologised to him for misjudging his inspiring and humble actions by selling on streets with his employees. I must say, however, that this is not at all like me especially as I have been promoting start-ups and young entrepreneurs. As a matter of fact, since January, I’ve had 10 graduate students undergoing start-up programs under the John dumelo Foundation. I was totally out of order on this one and I sincerely apologise to everyone especially the hard working hawkers who endure the sun just to make ends meet. I will soon join him on the streets to experience this selfless act for myself.”

John Dumelo came under fire on social media after he made fun of the Chief Executive Officer of A1 Bakery after he saw him selling his products on the street.

In an Instagram post which he later pulled down, Dumelo said: "Just saw a KNUST grad hawking in traffic.. what went wrong?".

However, Godfred Obeng Boateng said he is not bothered by the comments made by the actor.

"I’m really busy, working. The dog will bark but then the caravan will park, I’m just busy selling and I know I have confidence."

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Citi FM, he said "No one should be called upon what society thinks they should do. Some people are very good with office work and others are good with the hard way. You can’t force people to do business when they don’t have the interest."
