Don’t mistake shows for club night – Kubolor to event organisers

There have been instances where shows, for one reason or the other, dragged to a point where some present begin to leave the grounds due to their inability to wait till the end of the program.

Musician, Wanlov the Kubolor has urged event organisers to stick to the concept of musical shows than making it seem clubbing.

According to the member of FOKN Bois music duo, some events drag because organisers are unable to draw a line between what is a musical concert and club night.

“Some people make a mistake where they mix what is a club night with show. You can go clubbing till morning but with the show, by certain times, your mind is too tired to listen to lyrics, to be sitting there for so long. So by certain times, a show should be done and maybe turned into a party,” he suggested on Radio Univers’ mid-morning show, on Tuesday.

On the issue of programs starting far behind schedule, Kubolor told show host Abrantepa that it would be difficult for programs to start as scheduled due to the attitude of Ghanaians turning up late for events.

“I have come to accept that we are masters of the time and time is not our master. And that is why we treat time like that. I don’t think we can change,” he said.

The issue of the audience having to wait for so long a time before the headline artiste shows up also became a matter of concern. Kubolor agreed to suggestions that organisers of shows should plan in search a way that the headliner will perform in the middle of the show and later come back on stage to perform again.

He was convinced that the reason behind organisers’ decision to allow more acts to perform before the headliner is to give opportunity to those artistes, especially the least known ones to be heard and seen. He however advised that the list be cut down in order not to drag the show.

“After the headliner performs, the show will usually shut down and other artistes will not get the chance to perform. But I agree that sometimes the headliner should perform in the middle of the show and come back again,” the rapper noted.
