Gospel musician, Nicholas Omane Acheampong says not even the fame of secular musicians can lure him to collaborate with them if the motive is to make money.

According to him, his Maker is the provider of worth and would not ride on the fame of secular artistes for his songs to hit.

Speaking to Abrantepa on Radio Univers’ mid-morning show, Brunch2Lunch, Nicholas Omane Acheampong said he would collaborate with a secular artiste on condition that the artiste would want to join him preach the goodness of God.

“The fundamental aspect of gospel music is Jesus Christ so you can’t approach gospel music only with an entertainment ideas; rather, spiritual. I’m not against collaborations with secular artistes. If they make Christ the reason for singing, I will collaborate with them. But if we are collaborating for money, forget it. I am not jealous of any secular artiste,” he said.

Asked if featuring popular artistes would not help him propagate the word of God to a large audience because of how popular the artiste is, Nicholas Omane Acheampong answered, “I wouldn’t say this secular artiste is big so I want to feature him. He is not bigger than the God we serve. So if you want to collaborate with a secular artiste because he has made a hit and he has huge following, then you have failed as a gospel artiste.”

Nicholas Omane Achemapong is one of Ghana's long lasting gospel musicians. He is known for his unique title tracks such as Tabita KumZaphanath Paneah and Mahal Shala Hashbash. He is out with another one titled Aposor.
