The ‘Dancehall Commando’ singer in a Facebook post told his fans he will neither attend nor perform at this year’s event because organisers cannot pay him.

Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale pulls out of Bazz Awards

Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale has threatened to take legal action against organisers of the annual Bass Awards.

Shatta Wale indicated he will sue organisers if he sees his name under any category of the scheme.

Explaining his post on Pluzz FM’s AM Pluzz, Shatta Wale said his decision is not borne out of his spoilt relationship with his former manager, Bulldog who is a member of the organising team neither is he scared of losing any category to other artistes.

According to him, organisers did not deal with him in a professional manner as they put his image on their poster without prior information.

“I’m not pulling out because of that. If Bulldog was Bass Awards, then Natural Face [Bulldog’s artiste] would be working with Shaggy and Jay Z right now. I’m not doing that because of somebody. I’m doing that because I feel it’s my personal reason to do it. I don’t even see what that is going to give me. The kind of show bookings I get in Ghana and outside Ghana is very serious,” he clarified.

Organisers of the awards, Solid Multimedia has already released the nomination list for this year’s event.

Shatta Wale has been nominated in the Best Dancehall Collaboration with his song Party All Night which features Jah Vinci, Best Performer, Dancehall artiste of the Year, Dancehall Song of the Year, Kwame Nkrumah Award (Artiste of the Year) and Producer of the Year categories.

Bass Awards is a scheme designed to honour reggae and dancehall artistes in Ghana.
