Ghanaians actress, Nikki Samonas has opined that dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale deserves to win Artiste of the Year at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
“I will put Shatta Wale first, then maybe Bisa Kdei will follow because Shatta gets on the stage and can do five songs and everybody is on their feet,” she noted.
The VGMA board is yet to decide Shatta Wale’s fate as to whether or not to nominate him. The artiste last year warned organisers not to nominate him and that if they did, he would sue them. This was followed with series of videos which organisers find the content defamatory.

Already, some artistes including Bisa Kdei and Stonebwoy have been tipped for nomination as Artiste of the Year considering their performance in 2015. However, Nikki Samonas opines that rapper, Pappy Kojo also deserves to be nominated.
“I will add Pappy Kojo to the list. When I look at working prospects, I will add him because he has been releasing a hit and I think he has also done well,” she mentioned.
According to the description by organisers, the Artiste of the Year is the topmost award at the Ghana Music Awards, given to the Artiste(s) adjudged by the Academy, Board and the General Public as having the highest audience appeal and popularity. The artiste(s) must have released a hit single/album during the year under review.
