Music Exec slams El-Rufai with N10b lawsuit

The entertainment mogul and social activist, in a suit (FHC/ABJ/CS/385/17) filed by his lawyers, Ballason’s Chambers at the Federal High Court, Abuja, is seeking damages against the Governor to the tune of N10 billion.

Signal reports that the suit which came up for hearing before the trial judge, Hon. Justice John Tsoho on Tuesday, 16th May 2017, reveals that Maikori prayed the court to enforce his fundamental rights in light of the undue harassment and intimidation he suffered at the hands of the Kaduna State government, the State Governor and the Nigerian Police.

As earlier reported, Maikori who is an indigene of Southern Kaduna has been very vocal in advocating for his state people and bringing the world's attention to the mayhem which followed the admittance by the Kaduna State Governor that he had paid the Fulani herdsmen aggressors in the region to stop the killings.

The music exec was subsequently arrested by the Nigerian police on charges of incitement based on a petition by the Kaduna State government attributed to a tweet in which he made claims which turned out to be false.

A tweet which he later retracted and apologized for after he discovered his driver had lied to him to obtain money fraudulently.

Maikori was later released on bail following intense pressure from the social media and was subsequently cleared of any complicity by the Police Force Headquarters.

He was however rearrested and taken to Kaduna on the behest of the Governor who publicly vowed to prosecute him during the Social Media Week 2017.

After four days in detention, Maikori was charged to a Kaduna State Magistrate Court under Section 24 of the Cybercrime Act of 2015 but released on bail on medical grounds.
