During a 12 minute speech at the VMAs for his Video Vanguard award on Sunday (30 August), Kanye West covered a myriad of topics including the infamous Taylor Swift incident in 2009, his public perception and, finally, his decision to run for president in 2020.

"It's not about me. It's about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas." Kanye said: "People who believe in truth. And yes, as you probably could've guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for President."

Responding to this, The US Apprentice host and right-wing monopoly-man, Donald Trump has spoken to Rolling Stone, saying: "He's actually a different kind of person than people think. He's a nice guy. I hope to run against him someday."

He continued: "He's said very nice things about me in the past... extremely positive things. I was actually watching, I saw [his speech] and I said, 'That's very interesting. I wonder who gave him that idea?".

Even Rihanna is backing the future President of the Ye-nited States. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she said: "People are voting for [Donald] Trump; who wouldn't vote for Kanye? I’m really, really elated with his speech. His speech was incredible."

Even a representative from The White House has given a statement. Speaking to Billboard, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest says of the announcement that he looks "forward to seeing what slogan he chooses to embroider on his campaign hat."
