So the much-anticipated 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) finally took place at the Durban International Convention Centre in South Africa over the weekend. The well produced ceremony saw a keen battle between South Africa and Nigeria as Africa's leading musicians received awards for their works in the past year.
Ghana's performance at MTV Africa Music Awards, best dressed and more
Hello guys and welcome to #AmeyawSays - my special on the just ended MTV Africa Music Awards

A lot has been said about Ghana not picking up any award but it was to be expected as MTV Base currently plays more Nigerian and South African Music than any other. For me, it was clear that Ghana wouldn't win any award the moment, Sarkodie, Ghana's biggest export was not nominated in the Hip Hop Category (which he won the previous year). Stonebwoy also found himself in a very tight category, and it was clear that MTV Evolution Act Award would go to a 'MAMA Favouirte' and not Samini.
So without sounding like a broken record, I would just beg MTV Base to work on its structure; improve on rotations from other countries; and look more pan-African. I am tired of answering calls from musicians who want to know how to get their music videos on MTV Base - after 10 years in existence this should clearly not be the case. There should at least be an agent or bureau in Ghana and various regions to coordinate affairs of MTV Base there.
Anyway, enough of the complaints and over to some more fun stuff! At least a few Ghanaians 'managed' to attend the event and shined a bit. Joselyn Dumas glowed in her blue jumpsuit but the South Africans nailed it on the red carpet! From the wild to the elegant, they came in their numbers and in style.
