Secondary schools' reopening delay due to lack of feeding grant
The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) has called for government to take immediate action to resolve the issue
The inability of the SHSs to admit all students on the re-opening day is as a result of the non-payment of three-and-half terms feeding subsidies owed them by the government.
The affected schools are in the Northern, Upper East and the Upper West Region.
The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) has called for government to take immediate action to resolve the issue.
The Northern Regional Director of Education, Alhaji Mohammed Haroon has said the previous and current government left behind arrears for the schools.
He said it's the responsibility of the government to pay the arrears to enable them to reopen for the third term.
However, food suppliers have withdrawn their services and accused the schools authorities of not doing anything to be paid.
