Why not have a part-time job which can bring in some extra income? Yes, the current saying that there are no jobs is true but when you look harder you would find one that suits you. Below we suggest  jobs you can take up for extra income while in school.

1. Events Promoter

The university campus is often alive with activities, and this gives you a good opportunity to promote them and make some money. The beauty pageants, motivational seminars, entrepreneurial summits among others all fetch enough money and if you know you are good at marketing then this is for you.

2. Student Journalist

Most universities have radio stations or a campus newspaper. Students who work there are often remunerated so they can give their best. If you are a good writer and have the passion for journalism, you could do this job and earn a little more. There are media houses outside the campuses that will also accept students as part-time workers and pay them at the end of every month.

3. Hospitality

If you like having fun this is for you. So you can work as a waiter on a part-time basis and also enjoy the environment you love to be in. This goes beyond hanging out at your favourite place. You get to enjoy the ambiance and make some money.

4. Teaching

If you can find parents who need their children to be tutored after school or even your course mates and juniors who are willing to part with a few Ghana Cedis for you to teach them, then go for it. This may not affect your school schedule in any way since you may be doing it after lectures, or on weekends when there are no lectures.

5. Take up a university job

In Ghana, there are very few university jobs available for students of the institutions but you can still find one. This will make life easier since you will be schooling and working in the same location.

6. Research contracts

Sometimes there are lecturers who need the support of students in their research. Some of them are willing to pay for these services so you give them your best. Keep a good relationship with the lecturers so they can inform you of such developments when available.

7. One-off jobs

You can register with an agency that provides human resources for events so they call you when there is an event. You can serve as an usher, dress as a mascot and participate in psychology experiments. This can be done at your own time since you are allowed to inform the event organisers when you are available or not.

Now let’s go make some extra income as we school!
