Lancaster University embarks on clean-up exercise

The exercise was aimed at creating awareness on the importance of practicing proper waste disposing habits in order to kick out preventable diseases

Gutters were desilted; as well collection of waste materials  were carried out by students and staff of the University together with staff of Zoomlion Ghana Limited.

Community Engagement Office in partnership with Jackson 5 Plus 1 (a project management group) organized the clean up exercise which took place on the February 26, 2016.

The exercise was aimed at creating awareness on the importance of practicing proper waste disposing habits in order to kick out preventable diseases like Cholera, and it was a laudable initiative to periodically embark on clean-up exercises.

It also aims at reducing the resultant toll of such diseases on the finances of individual families in the communities and the country at large.

Emphasis was laid upon waste segregation methods made possible by the Environmental Protection Agency who provided six dustbins for plastic, paper and organic waste.

Waste management experts Zoomlion Ghana Limited joined the team of staff and students by providing labour and tools for collection of the refuse from the exercise.
