According to Atweeh's teacher who was quoted by Ghana online news platform, YEN, the neighbour who raped her used to give her private before the incident.

The alleged rapist however said he has plans to marry her in the future.

“I didn’t do it with intention of denying her someday because I have decided to choose her as my future wife,” he reportedly said.

gathered that cases of female students dropping out of school due to pregnancy is a common occurrence in Bidima and Atweeh was set to be the first female in the community to complete Senior High School.

She is on record as the fourth girl to drop out of the same school in 2015.

Taken in the superstitious African context, one would assume that the community is under a jinx.
