A level 300 student of the University of Ghana, Lefoner Yao Akonto, has won third place prize in the 4th African Organization for Standardization (ARSO) Essay Competition for Institutions of higher learning in Africa.
The competition is held for students below the age of 35.

Mr. Akonto is reading for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Philosophy.
The topic for the competition was the 'Role of Standardization in Facilitating Human Rights with Particular Focus on The Rights of Women'.
The award ceremony was at the Ghana Standards Authority in Accra on the World Meteorological Day.

The competition is an annual event on various matters relating to standardization.
The University congratulates Mr. Akonto on his achievement and encourages more students to participate in such competitions in the future.
