Grabbed 25-year-old nursing student arrested for fraud

A second year health assistant clinical student of the Kpembi Nurses and Midwifery School in the Northern Region, Latifa has been arrested by the Salaga police command for defrauding 40 of her colleague students to a tune of GH₵ 82, 347.

According to the victims, they paid their tuition fees of 1,600 cedis, SRC dues 30 cedis and their index fees 45 cedis to the suspect to be paid to the schools account and the receipt submitted to the schools accounts unit due to the distance between the school and the commercial bank.

Latifa who had a motorbike volunteered to facilitate the payment of fees for these students at no charge.

She, however, failed to undertake the legal transactions but issued the students with fake bank receipts.

Latifa's dubious deeds was however exposed when the school authorities asked students to submit their receipt of payment before allowing entry into the exam hall on Friday.

Report according to Viasat1 indicates that during the campaign, the school authorities realised the receipt presented were more than the amount paid to the bank and immediately alerted the bank on the situation.

Upon screening and interrogations, 40 fake bank receipts were found and the owners admitted paying their school fees through the suspect, Latifa.

She was  immediately summoned and upon checks, a commercial bank stamp, deposit form and ink pad were found on her.

She admitted giving the students fake deposit counterfoils. She was handed over to the police and has since been granted bail pending further investigation.
