A ‘Natural Science for Primary Schools – Pupil’s Book 1,’ authored by Joseph Albert Quarm had stated the function of the head is for carrying loads.

The classification has received a lot of backlash from social media, with the Vice President of IMANI Ghana, Kofi Bentil, calling for an immediate withdrawal of the books from the primary schools.

But in an interview with Pulse.com.gh, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service, Rev Jonathan Bettey said there was nothing wrong with the textbook.

"So what do you use your head for? Haven't you carried anything on your head before?," he asked.

"With class 1, curriculum states that we take everything gradually. When the child gets to class 2, a different knowledge comes in...until the person gets to JHS or SHS," the GES PRO explained.
