The Kaduna State Police Command on Wednesday said it had arrested four suspects in connection with the alleged killing of an 18-year-old student of Government Technical College, Malali, Kaduna.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Muhammed Sanusi, an SS II student, was stabbed on the chest on July 9, and his body was recovered within the school premises.

DSP Abubakar Zubairu, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) told NAN that the command had commenced further investigation into the killing, adding that the arrested suspects were Sanusi’s school mates and friends.

Zubairu assured that the suspects would be arraigned as soon as investigation was concluded.

He appealed for patience and understanding from the families of those affected in the matter.

According to the PPRO, the police will be more proactive to avert the recurrence of such incident in schools across the state.

Zubairu called for cooperation from members of the public, by providing the police with useful information for a violent-free society through community policing.

NAN also reports that the Permanent Secretary, Kaduna State Ministry of Science and Technology, Dr Madinatu Shehu, on July 9 confirmed the student’s death.

Earlier, Shehu had told NAN that the body of the deceased was found within the school premises.

NAN reports that the corpse, initially evacuated by the police, had been released to the deceased's parents for burial.
