However, with few days to the end of registration several potential National Service Secretariat (NSS) personnel have not yet been registered.

Many of the graduates have attributed it to long queues at registration centres due to the limited number of personnel who were processing the forms at the NSS offices and the machines being used.

A statement issued in Accra on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 said and signed by the Acting Executive Director, Dr. Michael Kpessa-Whyte said the period of registration has been extended in view of the slow process of the biometric registration to acquire their needed NSS Identification cards.

However, the 2016/2017 national service begins on Thursday, 1st September, 2016.

The statement said “only service personnel who register and report at post before the 15th September, 2016 and duly submit their monthly duty reporting forms would be eligible for payment of allowances for September, 2016.”

Management is currently processing on-line applications in respect of the optional six months extension granted to 2015/2016 service personnel, and would soon release the new placements for those from that batch who requested to continue with their service, the statement added.
