GRA cautions self-employed professionals to pay up taxes or....

We want to send out this strong warning to all  professionals that the task- force will clamp-down on them if they do not pay up their tax obligations.
 
 

The Ghana Revenue Authority is sounding a word of caution to professionals to meet their tax obligations or risk being sanctioned or prosecuted.

The Ghana Revenue Authority, in August, set out on a mission to fish out all tax defaulters and redeem all taxes owed the Authority. This led to the  GRA specialisation Task- For closing down some companies in Accra last week, notably, The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has closed down Margins ID Systems and the International Energy Insurance Company for owing over Gh¢3.3 million in tax arrears. Now  it's the turn of self-employed professionals .

In interview, Chief Revenue Officer of GRA, Theophilus Gaskin said, " We want to send out this strong warning to all  professionals that the task- force will clamp-down on them if they do not pay up their tax obligations. We issued the warning from the beginning of this month, and I think we all have seen the results. Now, we are telling all private professionals, artisans and self-employed people to pay up all their tax obligations,  otherwise we will sanction them."

Mr. Gasking added " The task-force will go to a lot more business sites to check their the tax-payment situation. This is a promise"
