We can't stop sole sourcing - Adwoa Safo

The Procurement Minister nominee, Sara Adwoa Safo, has said that even though the method is legal “it is an exception to the rule.”

She added that even though the method is legal “it is an exception to the rule.”

She was answering questions posed to her by some members of the Parliament’s Appointments Committee when she appeared before it to be vetted for the position.

She added that “I will ensure that there's transparency, fairness and integrity in the procurement process.”

“My role will be to advise the government on procurement and make sure that we follow the procedure,” she said.

She called for the need to “place emphasis on procurement to prevent our money from going down the drain.”

Successive governments have had challenges with procurement processes. This has often led to accusations of corruption and counter-allegations between governments in power, the opposition parties and the general public.

But Ms Safo said when she is endorsed as Minister for Procurement, she will ensure the Nana Addo-led government has minimum challenges in procurement.
