In the investigative piece by ace journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team, thirty-four judges at the country’s High Courts, the Circuit and District courts were captured on camera allegedly taking bribes from litigants whose cases come before them.

The exposé was premiered at the Accra International Conference Centre despite an application of interlocutory injunction served the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' property.
According to Nana Otua Owusua, having seen two judges [Justices Essel Mensah and Ernest Obimpeh] who presided over her case with Kofi Amoabeng some years ago implicated in the judicial scandal, she is sure injustice was served her.
It would be recalled that in 2012, an Accra Circuit Court issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the Chief Executive Officer of UT Bank and Financial Holdings, Captain Prince Kofi Amoabeng (Rtd), who had failed to appear before it to face alleged fraud charges.
Capt. Amoabeng was standing trial with a solicitor of the State Housing Company (SHC), Mr John Aidoo, who was also facing a charge of aiding and abetment of the crime.
The accused persons were said to have defrauded one Nana Otua Owusua I, also known as Naa Otuah Sawyne, a novelist, by allegedly releasing the land title document on her house at the Ringway Estates, Osu in Accra, which was in the custody of UT Bank, to one Alexander Adjei (now deceased) to use as mortgage in securing a loan of GH¢1,279,000 from HFC Bank.

The woman who spoke in confidence after watching ‘Ghana in the Eyes of God – Epic of Injustice’ video said she is convinced justice was compromised. She is therefore calling for a review of the case.
“It’s the most wonderful day in my life because I’m a victim… If they can collect money from ordinary people, and I am in court with a banker, could you just imagine? I’m a victim of injustice. Not one; two of them [indicted justices], the Human right Court judge, Justice Essel Mensah and Justice Ernest Obimpeh, the High Court judge,” she said.
“Without even blinking, I know so. My case is the Republic vs. Kofi Amoabeng – UT boss. The seed money that he used for his bank is my house in Ringway Estate, a 30 bedroom house. I’ve been in court. From the Criminal Court, he went to the Human Right Court and said his fundamental human rights were being trampled on. The High Court judge and the Human Rights Court ruled in his favour. I then went to the Supreme Court. The five Supreme Court judges unanimously were disgusted to see the list. They said they were baffled; he must be prosecuted. Lo and behold, when the day came and I was going to be given date for the judgement, the Attorney General annulled the whole proceedings. This is Ghana for you,” she narrated.
Nana Otua Owusua I continued, “I have petitioned the Chief Justice ten times and now I want the whole thing to be looked into again. Thanks to Anas, what we have thought every time, every day and you are told proof of evidence, now that’s the proof of evidence. Obviously, injustice has been done… if even one judge in your case is there, you need to have your case looked into again.”
