The Ghana Statistical Service has pegged the annual (year-on-year) inflation rate for January 2016 at 19.0%.
The year-on-year inflation rate for December 2015 was 17.7%. The monthly change rate for January 2016 was 4.6%.
Meaning that the general price level went up by 4.6% between December 2015 and January
2016.The monthly change rate recorded for December 2015 was 1.1%.
Food and Non-food Inflation rate
The rate of inflation has two main components;
Food inflation and Non-food inflation
The food inflation rate for January 2016 was 8.2% (compared with 8.0% recorded in December
2015). The non-food inflation rate for January 2016 was 25.5% (compared with 23.3% recorded in December 2015).
