Import duty on fishing equipment to be reduced by 2018 - Afoley Quaye
Many importers complain of the ever increasing rate of import duties they pay on the goods imported to the country. But the Minister-designate for Fisheries said she will ensure import duties on fishing equipment are reduced.
This was revealed by the Minister-Designate for fisheries Elizabeth Afoley Quaye when she was vetted by the Appointments Committee of Parliament.
“We will reduce import duties on fishing equipment by 2018,” she said.
Many importers complain of the ever increasing rate of import duties they pay on the goods imported to the country.
But the Minister-designate gave a firm assurance that she will do all within her power to ensure that the cost is reduced as a form of incentives to the importers of such items.
She also mentioned that her Ministry will create employment to help reduce the rate of unemployment in the country.
“We intend to increase employment in aquaculture; we will make the environment conducive.”
She further promised that she will continue with the viable projects started by the erstwhile Mahama-led administration.
