In a statement released by the group and signed by the chairman, Mark Imoro, the group accused government of “ acting in bad faith”.  According to the chairman, the workers are motivated to fight corruption being perpetrated in the bank. He added that the Managing Director  must be made to step aside because his contract has expired.

The chairman of the Professional and Managerial Staff Union and Local Workers Union revealed that workers in the Tema Branch of the Bank have threatened to strike if government does not  fire the MD Stephen Kpordzi.

The Agriculture Development Bank has come under a lot of scrutiny in the past three months due to a chain of decisions taken by the management.

The management decisions which were aimed at turning the fortunes of the bank have backfired. The management’s decision to dispose of its head office building for an alleged amount of $10 million and rent a new place for GhC1million,  pay $100 a month for each vehicle parked in the building, coupled with the decision of the bank to issue an IPO, forced the unionised workers to question the deal.
