Kwahu Easter Trade Fair launched

The Trade Fair is to be opened from March 22 to 29 and over 300 small, medium and large scale companies are expected to exhibit at the one week fair.

He explained that there were many unexplored business opportunities in the trade and industrial sectors of the economy and there was the need to encourage the young ones to turn their eyes to those sectors.

Mr Adjei-Baah was speaking at the launch of the Kwahu Easter Trade Fair and Exhibition, 2016 at Nkawkaw.

Mr Adjei-Baah explained that the essence of the trade fair was to incorporate trade and industry to the celebration of the Kwahu Easter.

It was also to encourage the younger generation to take advantage to establish joint ventures and take leading roles in trade and industry in the country to create jobs and wealth for themselves and the country, he added.

Mr Adjei-Baah said the fair would be organized annually and urged local Kwahu citizens doing business in the Kwahu area to take advantage of the fair to demonstrate to the world what was available in the Kwahu area to help attract investors to the area.

Member of Parliament for Nkawkaw, Mr Eric Kwakye Darfour, urged Kwahu citizens to be proud of being leaders in trade and industry in the country.

He appealed to the business community to support politicians and ensure that business minded politicians were put in power to give the needed political support to the growth of trade and industry.

The Eastern Regional Director of Trade, Mrs Doris Asentena-Mensah, explained that the Kwahu Easter was mainly associated with social activities hence the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ghana Chamber of Commerce, the Made in Ghana Promotion Secretariat, the Kwahu Development Association and other stakeholders decided to include trade and industry to the Easter celebrations to showcase investment opportunities in the Kwahu area.

She therefore, appealed to the District Assemblies, Traditional Authorities and people in the Kwahu area to help make the Kwahu Easter Trade and Exhibition Fair a success.

In a speech read on behalf of the Chairman of the Kwahu Development Association, Mr  Oduro Kwateng, he called on all Kwahu citizens to join the various development associations in their community so that they could contribute their quota to the development of the Kwahu area.

Chairman of the Kwahu Easter Trade Fair and Exhibition 2016 Planning Committee, Mr Opare Young, said there would be seminars on trade and industry at the fair, radio interviews with the resource persons, and also a live band music in the evenings at the fair grounds at the Obuoba Village at Nkawkaw.

Earlier in a welcoming address, Mr Dickson Anhyere, Presiding Member of Kwahu West Municipal Assembly appealed to the traditional authorities in the Kwahu area to provide land for development into industrial estate to enable people who want to invest in the Kwahu area to easily have access to land.

Nana Kissi Asante, Akwamuhene of Kwahu Obomeng who chaired the function, appealed to the government to reduce the taxes on raw materials for local industries to enable local companies to be able to compete effectively on the international market.

He assured of the readiness of the traditional council to provide land for investors in the Kwahu area.
