The Chairman of the National Executive Council of the Chamber of Pharmacy, Mr Harrison Kofi Abutiate, has called for tax charges on drugs to be scrapped.
He believes the action will go a long way to make drug affordable for the ordinary Ghanaian as well as reduce government bill on medicine.
He also argues that sub-regional countries have removed VAT on the cost of drugs thereby making it more affordable to the populace.
"We feel that by getting rid of the vat the advantages that they will get, they reduce the government bill, and also they will be in the position to pay the suppliers so that they can intend be paying the government," he told Accra-based Class FM.
