Uche Ofodile is Facebook's Regional Head,Africa for Express Wifi

She made this information known on her Facebook timeline.

“I am paraphrasing, but they say when you find a job you love, it doesn’t feel like work. I fully agree. This is what I have found so great about working in Africa over the last 16 years. The opportunity to make a positive contribution in each of the countries I have worked and lived in has been a joy and a privilege. Now as I begin a new chapter, to be able to do this on a wider scale with an absolutely amazing company… Well, as you can imagine, is simply powerful. It just doesn’t seem like work!”

“Today, I’m happy to announce that I am joining Facebook as the Regional Head, Africa for Express Wi-Fi. As a key component of internet.org‘s mission to connect the two-thirds of the world that is not already connected, the goal of Express Wi-Fi is to help expand connectivity to underserved locations around the world through Wi-Fi. Not only do we aim to increase the number of internet users; we also help create and empower local entrepreneurs! I am so proud of the work the team has done so far and we will continue to build on this in Africa. I am super excited to be joining the team.”

She mentioned that the job also means she moves to London where she hopes to stay in touch with lost friends and also make new ones.

“This job also means a move to London a city that Jeff and I absolutely love. I also get to reconnect with many long lost friends and favourite restaurants. James, I am looking forward to finally joining the team. Thank you for bringing me on board. Ebele, I am looking forward to kicking down doors, walls and targets with you and I am absolutely looking forward to working with Amone again! Let's make it happen!”

Uche has over 20 years of experience under her belt was associated with Tigo’s DRC office as CEO, and before that, Vodafone Ghana as Chief Marketing Officer.

She also worked with the Nigerian office of Econet Wireless (now Airtel) and Nutricima, a joint venture between PZ Cussons, plc. (UK) and Glanbia (Ireland) serving Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya.

Uche is also wife of rapper Captain Planet, leader of music group 4×4.
