Washington Post reporter: White House 'playing word games' with its denial of Trump's alleged classified-intel reveal

Greg Miller reported that President Donald Trump discussed "a special plot." White House statements said Trump "did not discuss sources or methods."

Washington Post reporter Greg Miller speaking with Erin Burnett on CNN on Monday.

The reporter who broke the story that President Donald Trump shared highly classified intelligence with Russian officials last week told CNN on Monday that the White House was "playing word games" with its statements of denial to "try to blunt the impact" of the story.

The Post's Greg Miller wrote that Trump revealed highly classified intelligence that came from a key source on the Islamic State, the terrorist group also known as ISIS, ISIL, or Daesh.

That information was related to a "specific threat" from ISIS and the information Trump shared with the Russians included the city in ISIS-held territory from which the intelligence was gathered — potentially endangering the US ally that shared the information.

The intelligence is said to have been so sensitive that it was closely guarded within the US government.

But statements of denial from the Trump administration did not address The Post's specific claims:

Miller rebutted the Trump administration's denial:

The CIA and NSA have not released statements.

Despite the sensitive nature of the classified information Trump is said to have revealed, because he is president, Trump most likely acted within his legal rights.
