Top aide shares video of Clinton practicing avoiding a hug from Trump at the debates

Clinton initially deflects the handshake, but the undeterred stand-in awkwardly continues to pursue it as the room roars with laughter.

After The New York Times reported Thursday that former FBI Director James Comey took steps to preempt being noticed by President Donald Trump — who later hugged him — a top aide to Hillary Clinton, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, posted a video of her practicing thwarting a hug from Trump before the first presidential debate.

The video, shared by Philippe Reines on Twitter, shows the candidate initially deflecting the hug with a handshake. Reines, who played the role of Trump in the Clinton campaign's debate preparation, was undeterred and awkwardly continued to pursue it as the room roared with laughter.
