China willing to invest in agric in SADA zone

China is willing to invest in agriculture in the SADA area, Chinese ambassador to Ghana has said.

 

“China is willing to concentrate resources to conduct cooperation in the areas of agricultural products cultivation, animal husbandry, grain storage and processing, irrigation, pest control to help improve the overall agricultural production capacity in the SADA zone,” Baohong said at the China-Ghana economic and trade cooperation forum in Accra.

"China is willing to actively implement agricultural development projects to raise rural living standards, projects to promote environment-friendly agriculture in the SADA zone,” she added.

The Chinese ambassador also called for joint investment between Chinese and Ghanaian enterprises in the area of power to develop a reliable energy supply in the SADA zone.

“We encourage Chinese and Ghanaian enterprises to jointly develop hydro, solar power and other clean energy projects by sharing the proven technology in energy saving and utilization of regenerated energy of China to help solve the issue of reliable energy supply in the SADA zone,” Baohong said.

SADA in January launched an investment guide, spelling out potential areas investors could target with their capital.

The zone occupies 54.4 per cent of the land area of the country, comprising 64 administrative districts in the Northern, Upper West, Upper East regions and the northern parts of the Volta and Brong Ahafo regions.
