Authorities in Zimbabwe have called on local private manufacturing companies to come onboard to manufacture adequate and sizeable condoms for use by the country’s nationals, as most of its men are complaining that condoms imported from China are “too small” for them.
The health minister of Zimbabwe David Parirenyatwa made the call at the launch of the Zimbabwe Private Sector HIV and Aids and Wellness (ZIPSHAW) coordinating board in the capital Harare, according to Africafeeds.com.
He is quoted as having asked the private companies “to come on board in the fight against HIV and start manufacturing drugs together with condoms, which are suitable for the Zimbabwean people.”

He said the move, aside economic benefits for the nation will also help “to address concerns over the size of condoms imported from China”.
According to New Zimbabwe.com, at least 109.4 million condoms were distributed to the Zimbabweans in 2016 alone, with each individual receiving about 33 condoms per year compared to the United Nations Population Fund’s regional mark of 30 male condoms per man per year.
