Winning the league will not only put smiles on the faces of our supporters but it will enrich us players, Hearts of Oak captain Thomas Abbey says.

The Phobians started the season on a high note and they were tipped to win the Ghana Premier League but they took their foot off the pedal after the exit of Kenichi Yatsuhashi at the start of the second round.

“We started the season very well because our aim was to win the league,” Abbey told Pulse.com.gh.

“All the players gave out their best and our supporters were very happy and they rallied behind us but we failed to make them happy especially the second round of games.”

“In football a lot things do happen. Players getting injured and also losing form. But irrespective of those obstacles we stood firm to finish at the third position but honestly it wasn’t what the supporters wanted, they want the league title so next season we will bounce back strongly to win the league title.

“Winning the league will not only put smiles on the faces of our supporters but it will enrich our [players] profiles. So next season the target will be the ultimate and with support from our fans we will achieve it,” he concluded.

The last time the Phobians won the Ghana Premier League was seven seasons ago.
