President John Mahama will start his ‘Accounting to the People’ tour in the Greater Accra Region today Tuesday, May 14.
The Greater Accra Regional Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress, Jerry Johnson, told Pulse.com.gh that President Mahama is expected to hand over 300 buses to Senior High Schools in the Greater Accra region.
According to him, the president will also pay a courtesy call on the chiefs of the Ada Traditional Council and also inspect road works from Kasseh to Ada Foah Project.
President Mahama will also interact with the Chiefs, Fishermen, Artisans and Market Women at Anyamam.
In addition, he will inspect the Saglemi Housing Project and also visit the Tema ICT Park, where he would round up day one of his tour.
Johnson said the president is not expected to make any major policy statement, but added that ‘if there is the need for him to make a major policy statement, so be it.’
He explained that the tour is to afford the president the opportunity to tell the people what he has achieved so far, and also commission some completed projects.
‘He is accounting to the people. He is just telling the people what he has done and some of them [projects] that are evident that he is expected to commission.
‘If there is a need for the president to make a major policy statement so be it. Apart from that, the rationale is ralking to the people, talking to them what has been done, pointing to the figures, point to the things that has been done, tell the people where he started from and has gotten to and where he intends to take the country to the next four years if he is given the nod on November 7,' he said.
President Mahama has so far visited the Eastern, Central and Western Regions.
