According to Ola, the amount needed for the body to be transferred is far more than what the late president needed to survive.

Speaking on Happy FM’s Showbiz Xtra, the FIPAG PRO issued a disclaimer that it was his opinion and not that of the association’s.

“He needed less than that amount to survive… What is the wisdom in raising that amount to bring the body back? It doesn’t make sense to me,” he noted.

Ola, however, indicated that due to the cultural differences, some people will oppose the body cremated in China.

“We have our culture and values…. Some families will never agree that their relative be cremated. But the Chinese will; they will not bury him. It is new to us,” he stated.

Nii Odoi Mensah passed on in China while undergoing kidney treatment.

Movie producer, Socrate Safo had said that Nii Odoi needed $26,000 for treatment but because he was unable to raise the amount, doctors decided that he come to Ghana so they send him them medicine.

In a separate interview, Socrate disclosed that, it would cost $68,000 to transport the body.

“I spoke to Nii almost every day except yesterday because I had lots of meetings… Before he went to China, he told me he had heard of a hospital there which could treat him and they needed about $10,000. We all did our part by contributing but when he got there, he realised he would need more than the said amount because he needed more treatment. I remember he called to request for about $26,000. We solicited for support and all that… The drama is, it’s going to cost $68,000 to bring the body back to Ghana. The cost covers the hospital bills, undertaker and other things… He was to return to Ghana on Sunday. He was discharged but got relapse. They did what they could but lost him,” Socrate said.
