GFA defends Avram Grant's player monitoring

Ghana Football Association communications director Saani Daara has backed Avram Grant's player monitoring regime

Avram Grant has been criticized by Ghanaians for his style of monitoring, but the FA Communication Director Ibrahim Saani Daara says monitoring doesn't necessarily mean he should invite new players into the team.

"It doesn't necessarily mean that when you monitor players you should come out with new ones.

"It does not also mean that when you monitor the players, you should forget of other players just because he has gone to monitor," the former Choice FM journalist said.

"The key thing is that the evolving national team must be a team where somebody coming out of the squad, the person who comes in is stronger than the person who goes out,” he explained.

"It is not just for the reason that you go and monitor sometimes you go and monitor and you think that he is not capped for the national team yet.

"Or yes, the player is good but I have a better player than what I have now. But we've said to him that internally, there are a lot of talents who can strongly compete for a place in the national team and we've also made it clear that there are some other players who should also be given a chance.”
