Jordan Ayew will be fined by Aston Villa

Jordan Ayew has personally apologised to Aston Villa manager Remi Garde but will still be fined by the club

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde says Ghana international Jordan Ayew has rendered a personal apology to him after getting sent off in the club’s English Premier League game on Tuesday night.

The Black Stars forward elbowed West Ham player Aaron Crisswell in an off the ball incident in the game. The linesman alerted match day referee Jon Moss who showed a straight red card to the Aston Villa striker.

Manager Remi Garde said after the game that what he had to say on the red card will stay private between himself and Jordan Ayew.

Speaking ahead of Aston Villa’s home game in the English Premier League against Norwich City, the Frenchman said:

“He [Jordan Ayew] came himself to my office the morning after the game and we had a long chat and yes, he will be fined.

“He regrets it, he apologised publicly, he apologised to me, the team and the fans. He behaved badly on the pitch but then he behaved the way he has to after that.

“It’s an accumulation of frustration for Jordan.

“A little bit during the game, but this frustration has grown in the previous weeks with the results and the way we were not wining games. For a long time he was the main threat for the opponent.

“I wouldn’t like if we summed up Jordan from this stupid behaviour.

“I’m trying to understand why he did that and of course he has to learn from it because your individual attitude can have a big impact on the collective.”

Jordan Ayew will miss Aston Villa’s next three fixtures due to an automatic three-match ban that comes with the red card.
